How the calculation works

The calculator works backward or forward from your target time in steps of 90 minutes (one estimated cycle), for 3, 4, 5, and 6 cycles (4.5, 6, 7.5, and 9 hours of sleep respectively), adding a buffer for the time it typically takes to fall asleep before the first cycle begins.
