Unit Price Calculator
Compare two products by price per 100 g, per kg, per 100 ml, per liter, or per unit, and see which one is cheaper. Runs in your browser.
Product A
Product B (for comparison, optional)
The unit price calculator helps you see what is really cheaper, even when packs come in different sizes. A unit price is the price for a standard amount: the price per 100 g, per kg, per 100 ml, per liter, per meter, or per single item. Enter a price and quantity for each product, pick a unit, and the calculator shows the unit price and which product is the better deal. Everything runs in your browser, with no signup.
How to use this tool
- 01Enter price and quantityType the product price and the amount in the pack (weight, volume, length, or number of items).
- 02Pick a unitChoose the matching unit: g, kg, ml, L, m, unit, roll, or pack.
- 03Compare and decideAdd a second product to compare, and the calculator shows which one is cheaper and by what percentage per unit.
When is this useful?
- Coffee: 200 g vs 500 gA bigger pack is not always cheaper per unit. Comparing the price per 100 g reveals which one is the real deal.
- A 1.5 L bottle vs a 2 L bottleCompare the price per liter to know whether the larger bottle actually saves money or only looks like it does.
- Toilet paper by the rollPacks with different roll counts are confusing. Comparing the price per roll gives a clear answer.
Examples
- Price per 100 gA product at 10 for 200 g costs 5 per 100 g. A product at 20 for 500 g costs 4 per 100 g, so it is cheaper.
- Price per literA 2 L bottle at 8 costs 4 per liter. That lets you compare it to a bottle of a different size.
- Price per rollA pack of 6 rolls at 12 costs 2 per roll, which is easy to compare against another pack.
Tips for a better result
- Compare the same kind of unitYou can compare weight against weight and volume against volume. You cannot compare grams against liters, because those are different quantities.
- A bigger pack is not always cheaperSometimes the small pack is cheaper per unit. It is always worth checking the unit price, not just the price on the shelf.
- Watch out for promotionsDeals like buy-one-get-one or "second item half price" change the effective price. You can work those out with the discount calculator.
What is a unit price?
A unit price is the price of one standard amount, such as 100 g, a kilogram, 100 ml, a liter, or a single item. It lets you compare products in different pack sizes on an equal basis. Instead of asking "which costs less", you ask "which costs less for the same amount", and that shows what is really the better deal.
How to compare correctly
For a fair comparison, both products must be measured in the same kind of unit: weight against weight, volume against volume, length against length, or items against items. The calculator converts everything to a single base (gram, ml, meter, or item) and then compares, so even kg against grams is compared correctly.
Frequently asked questions
What is a unit price?
The price for a standard amount, such as per 100 g, per kg, per liter, or per item. It lets you compare products in different pack sizes fairly.
How do I know which product is cheaper?
Enter a price and quantity for each product, and the calculator converts both to a single base and compares them. The product with the lower unit price is the better deal.
Can I compare grams against liters?
No. You can only compare units of the same kind, because weight and volume are different quantities. The calculator will tell you when the units are not comparable.
Is a bigger pack always cheaper?
Not necessarily. Sometimes the small pack is cheaper per unit. That is exactly why it is worth calculating the unit price.
How do I account for promotions?
Deals like buy-one-get-one change the effective price. Work out the deal with the discount calculator, then compare the result here.
