This tool stamps a visible text watermark onto a PDF and gives you a new file to download. You upload a PDF, type the watermark text (CONFIDENTIAL by default), and choose its position, rotation, opacity, and color. You can apply it to every page or just the first page. Everything runs in your browser: the file is never uploaded to a server, there is no sign-up, and there are no hidden marks. The original file is left untouched, and only a text watermark is added in this version.

  • What the tool does

    The tool loads your PDF with the pdf-lib library, which runs in the browser, and draws your text on the selected pages using a standard built-in font, with the opacity, rotation, and color you choose. Because the watermark is plain Latin text, no custom font is needed. It saves a new PDF and never changes the file you uploaded. Nothing is sent to a server.

  • Position, rotation, and opacity

    Center placement works well with a 45° or -45° rotation for a diagonal stamp, while the corner positions suit a smaller, upright mark. The tool centers the text on the chosen spot and keeps it on the page. Lower opacity makes the watermark sit quietly behind the content; higher opacity makes it dominant.

  • Add watermark vs. other PDF edits

    Use Add Page Numbers to PDF when the goal is numbering rather than a stamp. Use Merge PDF to combine files before watermarking, and Delete PDF Pages or Split PDF to remove or extract pages first. If a scan is sideways, fix it with Rotate PDF before watermarking. If the finished file is too large to send, run it through Compress PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is the file uploaded to a server?

No. The watermarking runs in your browser only. The file does not go to the internet and is not stored on our side.

Can I change the watermark text?

Yes. It defaults to CONFIDENTIAL, but you can type any text, such as DRAFT, COPY, or your own label.

Can I watermark only the first page?

Yes. Set "apply to" to first page only, and the rest of the document is left unmarked.

Will the watermark cover important content?

It can if the opacity or font size is high. Lower the opacity, reduce the size, or move it to a corner to keep the content readable.

Does it support image watermarks?

Not in this version. It adds a text watermark only. Use Latin letters, numbers, and basic symbols for best results.

Can I watermark an encrypted PDF?

A password-protected PDF may not load. It is best to remove the protection from the source first.
