Cost Per Lead Calculator

Work out cost per lead (CPL), and with a close rate and deal value, the cost per sale and campaign profit. Runs in your browser.

What is cost per lead (CPL)?

Cost per lead (CPL) is how much you spent to get one enquiry. It is the campaign budget divided by the number of leads. The lower the CPL is relative to the value of a deal, the more the campaign pays off.

Cost per sale

This is a general estimate, not financial advice. Cost per sale and expected revenue appear only when you enter a close rate and a deal value.

A free cost per lead calculator that shows what your lead generation really costs. Enter the campaign budget and the number of leads, and the tool returns the cost per lead (CPL). Add a close rate and an average deal value, and it also works out the cost per sale, the expected revenue, and the gross profit from the campaign. Seeing CPL next to the value of a deal is the fastest way to tell whether a channel is worth it. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is stored.

  • Set a budgetWork back from a target number of leads and a CPL to a budget.
03

Examples

  • CPLA 5,000 budget producing 100 leads is a 50 cost per lead.
  • Cost per saleAt a 20% close rate, 100 leads become 20 sales, so the cost per sale is 250.
  • ProfitAt a 1,000 deal value, 20 sales bring 20,000 revenue, for 15,000 gross profit on the 5,000 spend.
04

Formula or how the tool works

Cost per lead = budget / leads. With a close rate, sales = leads x close rate, so cost per sale = budget / sales. Expected revenue = sales x deal value, and gross profit = revenue - budget.

05

Inputs, outputs, and assumptions

You enter budget and leads, and optionally a close rate and a deal value. The tool returns CPL, and when the optional fields are filled, cost per sale, expected revenue, and gross profit. It assumes the budget covers only this campaign.

06

Supported modes or scenarios

Use it for a single campaign or a channel. Leave the close rate and deal value blank for a plain CPL, or add them to see the full funnel economics.

07

Limitations and common mistakes

A common mistake is using a channel-wide budget with one campaign’s leads. Gross profit here does not subtract the cost of delivering the product or service, only the campaign budget. Results are estimates to help you plan, not financial advice. Check them against your own account data before you rely on them.

08

Privacy and local processing

The calculation runs in your browser on your device. Your figures are never uploaded, stored, or shared, and closing the tab clears everything.

09

Frequently asked questions

What is cost per lead?

The campaign budget divided by the number of leads it produced. It is a core measure of lead-generation efficiency.

How is cost per sale different?

Cost per sale divides the budget by the number of closed deals, so it depends on your close rate, not just your lead volume.

Is the profit figure my real profit?

No. It subtracts only the campaign budget, not the cost of delivering the product or service. Treat it as gross profit from the campaign.

Do I need the close rate and deal value?

No. CPL works with just budget and leads. The extra fields unlock cost per sale, revenue, and profit.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you enter is stored.
