  • Cooking from a recipe in another systemA recipe asks for 8 ounces of butter. Convert 8 oz to grams and you get about 226.8 g, so you can measure it on a kitchen scale without hunting for a calculator.

Tips for a better result

  • Metric ton vs. short ton and long tonIn this tool "ton" always means the metric ton (1,000 kg). The US short ton (about 907.18 kg) and the UK long ton (about 1,016.05 kg) are not supported. If your source mentions a short or long ton, adjust manually.
  • Standard ounce, not troy ounceThe avoirdupois ounce (28.349523125 g) is used for food, body weight, and everyday products. The troy ounce (about 31.1 g) is used for precious metals and is not supported here. This is a general mass converter only.
  • Precision belongs to the unit, not your scaleThe result is an exact mathematical conversion between units. If the source value is already rounded ("about 250 g"), the result carries that same rounding. To know what your scale actually reads, weigh again.
