Tips for a better result

  • Use gross annual income, not monthlyEnter your full annual gross income. If you only know a monthly figure, multiply by 12 first.
  • Remember NIS and the health surcharge are separateThis estimate covers personal income tax only. National Insurance (NIS) contributions and the health surcharge are calculated separately and are not included here.
05

Formula and how the calculation works

Chargeable income = gross annual income minus the TTD 90,000 personal allowance (floored at zero). The first TTD 1,000,000 of chargeable income is taxed at 25%; any chargeable income above TTD 1,000,000 is taxed at 30% on the portion above that threshold. Total tax = (chargeable income up to TTD 1,000,000 × 25%) + (chargeable income above TTD 1,000,000 × 30%).

06

Current figures and official source

The personal allowance is TTD 90,000, per the Trinidad and Tobago Board of Inland Revenue's published Individual Income Tax Deductions & Allowances table (ird.gov.tt), which shows the allowance rose from TTD 84,000 (income years 2021-2022) to TTD 90,000 (income year 2023 onward, current). Both the allowance and the 25%/30% band split at TTD 1,000,000 of chargeable income are cross-checked against PwC Tax Summaries (taxsummaries.pwc.com/trinidad-and-tobago), last reviewed 2 June 2026. Figures are current as of 2026; tax law changes with each Budget, so check the official source before relying on a figure.
