Tips for a better result

  • This does not include NIS, NHT, or Education TaxJamaican payslips also deduct National Insurance Scheme (NIS), National Housing Trust (NHT), and Education Tax contributions. This tool estimates income tax only, so your actual net pay will be lower than the "net income" figure shown here.
05

Formula and how the calculation works

Chargeable income is your annual gross income minus the tax-free threshold (JMD 1,902,360, effective 1 April 2026). The first JMD 6,000,000 of chargeable income is taxed at 25%, and any amount above that is taxed at 30%. The tool sums the tax from each band to get total estimated tax, then subtracts that from gross income for an estimated net income.

06

Current rates, threshold, and official source

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ, jamaicatax.gov.jm) sets the annual Income Tax threshold, which rose to JMD 1,902,360 effective 1 April 2026 (from JMD 1,799,376), as part of a progressive increase plan running through 2028. Chargeable income is taxed at 25% up to JMD 6,000,000 and 30% above. This tool uses the current standing annual threshold; TAJ's 2026 calendar-year assessment applies a one-time blended threshold (JMD 1,876,614) for that specific transition year, which this tool does not reproduce. Pensioners and people 65 and over receive additional exemptions not modeled here. Current as of 2026. Tooleem is not affiliated with Tax Administration Jamaica.
