A free Malta income tax calculator that estimates your tax and net (take-home) income using Malta's 2026 individual income tax bands. Malta computes tax differently depending on your status — single, married, or parent — and since the 2026 Budget, married and parent computations also have wider tax-free bands for one or two-or-more dependent children. Enter your annual income, pick your status (and children, if applicable), and see your estimated tax, net income, and effective rate, with a full band-by-band breakdown. This does not include social security contributions or employer payroll costs — it estimates personal income tax only. Everything runs in your browser.

- Married with 1 child, €25,000The married-with-1-child band pushes the tax-free threshold up to €17,500 before the 15% band starts, lowering the estimated tax compared to the base married rate.
- Income above €60,000Any status: income above €60,000 is taxed at the top 35% rate on the portion above that threshold, regardless of status or children.
Formula and how the calculation works
Malta uses progressive tax bands: each band's rate applies only to the portion of income that falls within it, not to the whole income. The tool sums the tax owed in each band up to your income level. Total tax = sum across each band of (portion of income in that band x that band's rate).
Malta's 2026 tax bands and official source
Malta's Tax and Customs Administration (MTCA) publishes seven individual computation structures for 2026: single, married (no children, 1 child, 2+ children), and parent (no children, 1 child, 2+ children). Single has no children variant. The bands used here follow MTCA's published 2026 rates (mtca.gov.mt), cross-checked against independent professional tax-advisory summaries for the child-inclusive bands. Rates are set by the annual Budget and can change — this is current as of 2026.

Does this include social security contributions?
