A free Morse code converter that translates text to International Morse Code and decodes Morse code back to text. It supports exactly the character set defined by the International Morse Code standard — the Latin letters A-Z, digits 0-9, and a fixed set of punctuation marks. Any character outside that set is never silently dropped: it is listed clearly so you know exactly what could not be converted. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing is stored.

What International Morse Code covers

This tool supports the Latin letters A-Z, the digits 0-9, and the standard punctuation set defined by the International Morse Code standard: period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, exclamation mark, slash, parentheses, ampersand, colon, semicolon, equals sign, plus sign, hyphen, underscore, quotation mark, dollar sign, and at sign. Encoding is case-insensitive — lowercase and uppercase letters produce the same Morse code.

Why unsupported characters are never silently dropped

Accented letters, non-Latin scripts (like Hebrew or many Indonesian loanwords with diacritics), emoji, and other symbols have no defined representation in International Morse Code. Rather than silently deleting them or guessing at an approximation, this tool lists every unsupported character or Morse token it encounters, so the result is never misleadingly "complete."

The encoding format used here

Within a word, each letter's Morse code is separated from the next by a single space. Words themselves are separated by " / " (a slash surrounded by spaces) — a common, unambiguous convention for representing Morse code as plain text.

Frequently asked questions

Does this support languages other than English?

It supports the Latin alphabet (A-Z), digits, and standard punctuation defined by the International Morse Code standard. Characters outside that set — including accented letters and non-Latin scripts — are not part of the standard and are listed as unsupported rather than converted.

Why does my decoded text look different from what I typed?

Decoding always produces uppercase letters, since Morse code does not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase — the original letter casing is not recoverable from Morse code alone.

How do I separate words when typing Morse code to decode?

Use " / " (a forward slash surrounded by spaces) between words, and a single space between each letter's Morse code within a word.

What happens if I enter an invalid Morse sequence?

Any sequence of dots and dashes that does not match a known character is listed under unsupported tokens, rather than being guessed at or silently skipped.

Is my text saved?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
