This generator builds a page with an original short story in easy Hebrew, based on the topic and level you choose: first day of school, a bus ride, supermarket shopping, and more. The sheet includes a small dictionary of the new words, five comprehension questions, an exercise where the learner puts the story's sentences back in order, and a short exercise to write their own ending. A teacher key with answers is optional. All the stories are entirely original, written specifically for practice โ€” not translated and not based on an existing book, song, or curriculum. The stories are warm and everyday, with nothing scary or heavy. Everything is plain, natural Hebrew, written in full spelling without niqqud, and it's built entirely in your browser, no sign-up.

01

How to use this tool

  1. 01Pick a topicChoose one of eight everyday topics, or "Mixed" for a random story drawn from all of them at the same level.
  2. 02Pick a levelSet the level (beginner, basic, or intermediate). At higher levels the story is a bit longer and more complex.
  3. 03Turn on the teacher key (optional)If you want it, switch on the answer key for the comprehension questions and the sequencing exercise.
  4. 04Print or generate a new storyPrint or save as a file. "New story" draws a different story for the same topic and level.
02

When is this useful?

  • A pleasant reading moment in classA teacher uses the story as a warm opening to a lesson, not just a dry exercise.
  • Independent reading practice at homeA new immigrant student reads a short story on their own and answers the questions at their own pace.
  • Creative writing practiceA student practices writing their own ending to the story โ€” a writing skill beyond just reading comprehension.
  • Vocabulary reinforcement in an Olim classroomA teacher adds the story sheet as a pleasant complement to a lesson cycle on everyday Hebrew.
03

Examples

  • First day of school, beginnerA short story about a new immigrant meeting a new friend on her first day.
  • First day of work, basicA story about someone starting a new job and meeting a supportive coworker.
  • Family in Israel, intermediateA story about a family, a year after making aliyah, each member at their own pace with Hebrew.
04

Tips for a better result

  • Read it out loudIt helps to ask the student to read the story aloud, not just silently, to practice pronunciation too.
  • Start without the teacher keyLet the student try answering the questions and ordering the story before showing the answers.
  • Pair it with the comic-scenes generatorThe story can be combined with the comic-scenes generator on the same topic, for extra practice in a different format.
  • Don't skip the writing exerciseThe "write an ending" exercise is deliberately short, so even students at a basic level try writing on their own.

Frequently asked questions

Are the stories original?

Yes, entirely. Every story is written specifically for practice, and is not translated or based on an existing book, song, or curriculum.

Who is this for?

New immigrant students of any age who want to practice reading easy Hebrew, and teachers, tutors, or parents who want a well-organized, pleasant reading sheet.

Do the stories deal with the hardships of immigration?

Not in a heavy or scary way. The stories are warm and everyday, focused on small, positive moments rather than difficult descriptions.

Where do the answers appear?

Turn on the teacher-key option and an answer key appears at the end of the sheet, with answers to the comprehension questions and the correct order of the story.

Do I need to enter personal information?

No. There's no sign-up and no need for a name or details. Everything is built in your browser, and the name line on the sheet is meant to be filled in by hand after printing.
