- 02Pick the rate and enter the amountSelect the VAT rate that applies (standard 12.5%, or the 10% tourism rate), then type the amount in Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD). You can also enter a custom rate manually.
- 03Read net, VAT, and grossThe tool shows all three figures at once, so you can copy the net, the tax, or the VAT-inclusive price you need.
When is this useful?

- Hotel and tourism pricingThe 10% reduced rate applies to hotel accommodation and other tourism-sector services, so hospitality businesses can check the VAT-inclusive room rate.
- Checking a receiptRemove VAT from a gross total to see the pre-tax price and the tax charged.
Examples
- Add 12.5% VATA net price of XCD 1,000 at the 12.5% standard rate becomes XCD 1,125, with XCD 125 VAT.
- Remove VATA gross price of XCD 1,125 at 12.5% contains XCD 1,125 ÷ 1.125 = XCD 1,000 net, so the VAT is XCD 125.
- Tourism rate (10%)On a net price of XCD 200 for hotel accommodation at the 10% rate, the VAT is XCD 20, for a gross of XCD 220.
Formula and how the calculation works
VAT is a percentage of the price, and here you pick the rate first. To add VAT, multiply the net price by 1 plus the selected rate (for the 12.5% standard rate, by 1.125). To take VAT out of a VAT-inclusive price, divide by that same figure to get the net, then subtract to find the tax. The VAT amount mode shows the selected rate applied to the net price.
Current VAT rates and official source
Saint Lucia's standard VAT rate is 12.5%. A reduced 10% rate applies to hotel accommodation supplied by a hotel and other food, beverage, and tour services in the tourism sector. Goods for export and goods sold at duty-free shops are zero-rated. VAT is administered by the Inland Revenue Department (irdstlucia.gov.lc). The rates shown are current as of 2026. Tooleem is not affiliated with the Inland Revenue Department. Rates and rules can change, so check the official source before you rely on a figure.
Supported modes and assumptions
The calculator has three modes: Add VAT (from a net price), Remove VAT (from a gross, VAT-inclusive price), and VAT amount (the tax on a net price). Pick the rate that applies to your goods or service; the tool does not decide the correct rate for you. It applies one rate to the whole amount and does not split a mixed-rate invoice.
