Share toolWhatsApp

A free tool for converting JPG and JPEG images to PNG, right in your browser. PNG is a lossless format, which makes it handy when you need a clean file for editing, for embedding in a document, or for a tool or form that asks specifically for PNG. The tool shows the file name and the size before and after, and lets you download with one click. Converting does not improve quality or restore transparency, and a JPG photo saved as PNG is usually larger. Everything runs locally on your device. The image is never uploaded to a server.

Tips for a better result

  • PNG is usually largerPNG saves losslessly, so a photo converted to it is usually heavier than the original JPG. That is normal and expected.
  • Need a lighter file?If your goal is a small file for the web, WebP or a compressed JPG suits photos better than PNG.
  • JPG has no transparencyBecause the source JPG has no transparency, the resulting PNG is fully filled, with no transparent areas. Converting cannot add transparency.
  • When should you use PNG over JPG?

PNG is a lossless format, so it suits graphics, logos, screenshots, and any case where sharp edges or repeated editing without quality loss matter. JPG is better for photos where you want a lighter file. Converting from JPG to PNG does not bring back detail that was already lost in JPG compression, but it gives you a stable base to keep working from.

  • Local, in-browser conversion

The conversion happens only on your device, without sending the file to a server. That is fast and keeps things private, which matters especially for personal or client images.

  • Privacy

The image is processed in your browser only. No file is sent to a server, and nothing is stored by us.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, and the image is not sent online or stored by us.

Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?

PNG saves the image losslessly, so for photos it is usually larger than the compressed JPG. That is normal behavior for the format.

Will converting improve the image quality?

No. Converting does not restore detail lost in JPG compression. It only saves the existing image in PNG format.

Can I convert several images at once?

For now you convert one image at a time. You can repeat the process for each file.

Is there a size limit?

You can convert files up to 30MB. Because processing is local, the speed depends on your device.
