Tips for a better result

  • Check zero-rated and exempt items firstExports and certain medical supplies are zero-rated, and international transport, education, residential rent, financial services, and some food items are exempt — this tool applies the standard rate you enter, so confirm the correct treatment for your item before relying on the result.
05

Formula and how the calculation works

VAT is a percentage of the price. To add VAT, multiply the net price by 1 plus the rate (for 14%, by 1.14). To take VAT out of a VAT-inclusive price, divide by that same figure to get the net, then subtract to find the tax. The VAT amount mode shows the rate applied to the net price.

06

Current VAT rate and official source

Guyana's standard VAT rate is 14%, administered by the Guyana Revenue Authority (gra.gov.gy). Exports and certain medical supplies are zero-rated. International transport services, locally mined raw gold or diamonds, educational services, residential rent, financial services, and some food items and consumer products are exempt. The rate shown is current as of 2026. Tooleem is not affiliated with the Guyana Revenue Authority. Rates and rules can change, so check the official source before you rely on a figure.

07

Supported modes and assumptions

The calculator has three modes: Add VAT (from a net price), Remove VAT (from a gross, VAT-inclusive price), and VAT amount (the tax on a net price). It applies one rate to the whole amount and does not split a mixed-rate invoice, and it does not determine whether a specific item is zero-rated or exempt.
