Canada GST/HST Calculator
Add or remove Canadian GST/HST by province, or find the tax inside a price. Shows net, tax, and gross. Runs in your browser.
Pick your province to load its combined GST/HST (or GST + PST) rate. Estimate for a standard taxable sale, not tax advice; some items are taxed differently.
A free Canada GST/HST calculator that runs in your browser. The federal GST is 5%, and the total sales tax depends on your province: HST provinces combine federal and provincial tax into a single rate, while some provinces add a separate PST or QST to the 5% GST. Pick your province to load its combined rate, choose a mode, and see the net, the tax, and the gross together. This is an educational estimate for a standard taxable sale, not tax advice.

Examples
- Ontario HST (13%)A net price of C$100 in Ontario becomes C$113, with C$13 of HST.
- Remove HSTA gross price of C$113 in Ontario contains C$113 ÷ 1.13 = C$100 net, so the HST is C$13.
- Alberta GST (5%)A net price of C$100 in Alberta becomes C$105, with C$5 of GST.
Formula and how the calculation works
GST is a percentage of the price, and here you pick the rate first. To add GST, multiply the net price by 1 plus the selected rate (for the 18% standard slab, by 1.18; for a 5% rate, by 1.05). To take GST out of a GST-inclusive price, divide by that same figure to get the net, then subtract to find the tax. The GST amount mode shows the selected rate applied to the net price. Net, tax, and gross update together.
Current GST rate and official source
The federal GST is 5%. HST provinces (Ontario 13%, Nova Scotia 14%, and New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island at 15%) combine federal and provincial tax into one rate. In British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan a separate PST is added to the 5% GST, and Quebec adds QST; Alberta and the three territories charge GST only. The rates shown here are current as of July 2026, based on the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) (canada.ca). Tooleem is not affiliated with the CRA. Rates and rules can change, so check the official source before you rely on a figure.
Supported modes and assumptions
The calculator has three modes: Add tax (from a net price), Remove tax (from a gross, tax-inclusive price), and tax amount (the tax on a net price). Pick your province or territory to load its combined rate; in the PST provinces (British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan) GST and PST are both charged on the pre-tax price, which the combined rate reflects. You can also type any rate manually.
