Australia’s GST rate is 10%: add GST by multiplying by 1.1, or find the GST in a price by dividing by 11. Estimate only, not tax advice.
A free Australian GST calculator that runs entirely in your browser. GST in Australia is a flat 10% on most goods and services. The ATO shortcuts make it easy: to add GST you multiply the net price by 1.1, and to find the GST inside a price you divide the gross by 11. Choose a mode (add GST, remove GST, or show the GST amount), enter the amount, and the tool shows the net price, the GST, and the gross price together. The rate defaults to 10%, and you can change it for a GST-free case. This is an educational estimate for pricing, quotes, and BAS checks, not tax advice, and it covers the standard rate only. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
How to use this tool
- 01Choose a modeAdd GST starts from a net price. Remove GST starts from a gross, GST-inclusive price. GST amount shows the tax on a net price.
- 02Enter the amount and rateType the amount. The rate is set to the 10% Australian rate; change it only for a GST-free supply.
- 03Read net, GST, and grossAll three figures appear together, so you can copy the net, the GST, or the gross price for an invoice or a BAS.
Examples
- Add 10% GSTA net price of 100 AUD becomes 100 × 1.1 = 110 AUD, with 10 AUD of GST.
- Find the GST in a priceA gross price of 220 AUD contains 220 ÷ 11 = 20 AUD of GST, so the net is 200 AUD.
- GST amount onlyOn a net price of 100 AUD, the GST is 100 × 0.10 = 10 AUD.
How Australian GST is calculated
GST is 10%. The ATO gives two shortcuts: multiply the price by 1.1 to add GST, and divide a GST-inclusive price by 11 to find the GST it contains. Some supplies are GST-free or input-taxed; for those, set the rate to 0 or handle them separately, since this tool applies a single 10% rate.
Source and limitations
The 10% rate and the multiply-by-1.1 and divide-by-11 shortcuts are from the Australian Taxation Office (ato.gov.au). Last checked 6 July 2026. This tool is an educational estimate and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the ATO or any government body. It covers the standard rate only, not GST-free or input-taxed supplies. Rates and rules can change. For a business or tax decision, check the official source or a registered tax agent.
