A free India GST calculator that runs in your browser. India uses GST slabs, and since the GST 2.0 reform on 22 September 2025 the main slabs are 0%, 5%, and 18%, with a 40% rate for specified luxury and demerit goods. Pick your slab, choose a mode, and enter an amount to see the net, the GST, and the gross together. For an intra-state sale the GST splits equally into CGST and SGST, and an inter-state sale uses IGST, but the total is the same. This is an educational estimate; it does not decide the slab for you, and it is not tax advice.
How to use this tool
- 01Choose a modeAdd GST starts from a net (pre-tax) price. Remove GST starts from a gross (tax-inclusive) price. GST amount shows the tax on a net price.
- 02Pick the rate and enter the amountSelect your gst slab to load the rate, then type the amount. You can still change the rate manually.
- 03Read net, GST, and grossThe tool shows all three figures at once, so you can copy the net, the tax, or the gross price you need.
When is this useful?
- Tax invoicesAdd GST at the correct slab to a net amount to show the total, or work back to the taxable value from a gross figure.
- CGST and SGST splitSee the total GST for a slab; for an intra-state sale it splits into equal CGST and SGST halves.
- Small business pricingSet a net price and see the GST-inclusive figure to quote or display.
Examples
- Add 18% GSTA net price of ₹1,000 at the 18% standard slab becomes ₹1,180, with ₹180 GST (₹90 CGST + ₹90 SGST for an intra-state sale).
- Remove GSTA gross price of ₹1,180 at 18% contains ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 net, so the GST is ₹180.
- Merit slab (5%)On a net price of ₹200 at the 5% slab, the GST is ₹10, for a gross of ₹210.
Formula and how the calculation works
GST is a percentage of the price, and here you pick the rate first. To add GST, multiply the net price by 1 plus the selected rate (for the 18% standard slab, by 1.18; for a 5% rate, by 1.05). To take GST out of a GST-inclusive price, divide by that same figure to get the net, then subtract to find the tax. The GST amount mode shows the selected rate applied to the net price. Net, tax, and gross update together.
Current GST rate and official source
Since the GST 2.0 reform effective 22 September 2025, the main slabs are 0%, 5%, and 18%, plus a 40% rate for specified luxury and demerit goods; the earlier 12% and 28% slabs were removed. 18% is the standard rate for most goods and services. The rates shown here are current as of July 2026, based on the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) (cbic-gst.gov.in). Tooleem is not affiliated with the CBIC / GST Council. Rates and rules can change, so check the official source before you rely on a figure.
Supported modes and assumptions
The calculator has three modes: Add GST (from a net price), Remove GST (from a gross, tax-inclusive price), and GST amount (the tax on a net price). Pick the GST slab that applies to your item; the tool does not decide the slab for you. You can also type any rate manually. It applies one rate to the whole amount and does not split mixed-rate baskets.
